Meet Veronica in the Community

Veronica is involved in this great community project called Grow it, Grab it, Gulp it, a great community project created by Adriana Torellini. The team is a group of extraordinary individuals who are committed to take action and make a difference.

Each year younger and younger children are diagnosed and suffer from obesity and type 2 diabetes, in part due to a lack of proper nutrition and an unhealthy relationship with wholesome foods.

If nothing is done to create awareness and educate children and parents about nutrition, more children will continue to develop type 2 diabetes and suffer at a young age. Furthermore, the health care system will have to tend to these children’s needs earlier and for a longer period of time, requiring more resources. By taking action today we can start reversing the current trend and create the possibility of health and well being in every child and in their future adulthood. Additionally, these children will grow to become healthy parents and foster a healthy and happy childhood for their own children.

The goal is to connect children and their families with healthy wholesome food and its origins in a fun and engaging way. The project is targeting elementary school students.

Veronica and her Magic Kitchen help in this project by developing fun and new recipes that kids can prepare on their own, so they can become more interested in healthy food. At the same time, they will be exposed to and learn about other cultures.

A key aspect of this program is the involvement of local farms.
Kids will experience the connection to the land and healthy food by picking fresh ingredients directly from the farm.

If you are interested in volunteering or bringing this wonderful community program to your school, please contact us. Be part of the team!
